Notes: I've always admired Meetup's goal to use the Internet to get people together in the real world.  We were happy to be able to work with them to get that message in front of more people.  Douglas Atkin and the rest of the Meetup folks were a pleasure.  Did you see the recent article about them in Business Week?

Yay, another nice piece of work!

Hi guys, I'm working on a summer Moodle course in my school called "Finding Your Digital Tribe" and this little gem is going to come in VERY handy, so thank you (again)!

A question... the four dudes who jump out of the computer to land on the grassy Meetup knoll all look like dudes... how do y'all think about gender and the representation of "everyman"?

And a request... I would love it if, in posts w/ a video, you could include a notation about the video's length. I know yours are pretty much always short, awesome, and to the point, so you guys kind of get grandfathered, but this is becoming a "thing" with me... I am MUCH more likely to click "play" on a video if I know how much time I'm committing. Their consistency in length labeling played a tiny role in TED.com's winning my heart (although of course the quality of the content was the main lure).

Anyway, my $.02, thanks for listening, and thank you again for your continuing commitment to increasing the world's "lightbulb moments." :-D

Questions

Hi Shelley,
Thanks for commenting. A couple of answers for you...

Gender: We take this seriously and I think you'll find that, across our library, we are careful to include a balanced perspective. The figures you mention are meant to be "people" vs. male or female.

Length: Yes, you're right - this video doesn't include length in the post, and it should. We do include it on our other videos, but it was missed here. Thanks!

Lee,
Again, I appreciate all you do. I was directed to this from Jane Hart's blog at: http://janeknight.typepad.com/pick/2008/06/meetup.html
I don't even know who Jane is! Maybe we should Meetup? Anyways, I had seen the Meetup site before and never signed up, now I have an account and will try it out.
Thanks again,

meetup

looks interesting. why do they say meetup instead of meeting, or meet? Odd.
