As many webloggers know, Technorati keeps track of the conversations occurring between weblogs. It knows when weblog "A" links to weblog "B". You can see all the weblogs linking to this site here.
Just recently, Technorati made it possible to add a new link to the footer of weblog messages that shows what other sites (if any) are linking to that particular post.
You'll notice a new link at the bottom of this post that says "New! Other blogs commenting on this post". By clicking it, you see other sites are linking to the post on my site. This link allows readers to get a picture of how the weblog world is reacting to a post. I'm just trying it out for now- I may take it off after testing for a bit.
Part of the problem right now is that not every post gets commented on in other blogs- so the link lead readers on a path to no where. To see a positive example, go the footer of this post on my site. Or check out BoingBoing.
I found instructions for how to do it using Movable Type here.
