The largest message boards & forums on the web
This site tracks the growth of the most used message boards on the Web in terms of posts and provides graphs and simple stats for most of the ranked boards. Also, it divides the rankings into groups like "General Discussion", "Cars and Bikes", "Video Games", as well as by technology.
Interesting that some of the non-English sites rank so highly in the worldwide rankings- with Dutch having two in the overall top ten.
The top ten right now are:
1. IGN (gamers)
2. Gathering of Tweakers (Dutch- Computer Hardware)
3. Gamespy (gamers)
4. Hardware.fr (French- computer hardware)
5. AnandTech (Computer hardware)
6. Fok.nl (General discussion in Dutch)
7. VW Vortex Forums (Volkswagen and car brands discussion)
8. DSL Reports (Broadband and High Speed Connection discussions)
9. Corvette Forum (Corvette discussion)
10. Honda Tech (Honda car discussion)
As popular and used as these boards are, I still think they are in the domain of the male geek. I love to see them grow and hope that one day the average person (and business) will see the power of this kind of online interaction. In time...in time.
