Information Pollution (Alertbox)
I generally enjoy Jacob's Alertbox posts. I don't always agree with everything, but I do like the way he writes sometimes. This quote gave me a chuckle:
Information pollution is a worldwide scourge that afflicts not just travelers but everyone. In the United States, for example, you can't buy a lawnmower without a label saying that you're not supposed to mow your feet.
So true. Whenever I buy something, the last thing I'm likely to read is the warnings. After reading a few over my lifetime, I've realized that good ole' common sense prevails in 99% of the cases. I don't need to know not to use hairdryer in the bathtub or shave near flames.
I guess lawyers are there to protect the folks who lack the common sense it takes to keep from mowing your feet- or at least the companies who could get sued by those poor souls.
